Imagine you have finished a long hard day’s work and you walk into your home and the scene depicted in the picture confronts you, what do you do? Do you grab a mop and bucket and mop the floor? Or do you take other measures?
Mopping the floor would not solve the problem but the turning off the tap (the root cause) would deal with the issue immediately; yet it is incredible how many times we are confronted with such situations in life, a headache here, an ache there and we naturally turn to the pill (mop in this case) instead of addressing the cause (see bottom picture). Disease never suddenly occurs, it develops over time as lifestyle and other factors influence it, in the same way the kitchen floor would not flood suddenly but over time. Would it not make sense for us to start being wise in how we address disease and treatment, moving from treatment of symptoms to treatment of disease causes or better yet prevention?
‘You are what you eat’ a statement that sinks deeper than the carelessness by which the statement is thrown. The human body is a masterpiece wonderfully and fearfully created with each piece of the digestive system critical to how it functions and in turn to its support to the health of a person. An example being a person eating diseased food would end up having diseased blood simply from the fact that food is broken down and absorbed into the blood stream and the blood circulates the system bringing with it either health or disease to the cells which will in turn affect the organ and the greater organism. The scriptures point to the fact that the life is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11).
There is a way that seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death (Proverbs 16:25), our way of healthcare has resulted in more diseases and death, perhaps now is the time we try out God’s way. Prevention or cure the choice is yours. Health is nothing but without it everything is nothing.
